Computer algebra implemented in Isabelle's function package under Lucas-interpretation - a case study

چکیده

The relation of this paper to “Theorem-Proving (TP) components for educational software” deserves explanation: TP technology is designed for mechanised justification of formalised facts — so educational software gains a prerequisite for being a “transparent system” [12] which explains itself. Computer Algebra (CA), however, is not designed for justification (and thus leaves full responsibility for interpreting results with the user, which over-strains students frequently), and CA is not designed for “transparency”1. So integration of CA into TP promises to improve justification and “transparency” of CA, provides requisites for step-wise “Lucas-Interpretation” [11], another advantage for interactive educational software.

A Maple package for verifying ultradiscrete soliton solutions

We present a computer algebra program for verifying soliton solutions of ultradiscrete equations in which both dependent and independent variables take discrete values. The package is applicable to equations and solutions that include the max function. The program is implemented using Maple software.

Isabelle/hol as a Platform for Partiality

In Isabelle, there are several possibilities when one wants to support partial functions. One could put Isabelle to its intended use by directly embedding a logic of partial functions in Isabelle's meta-logic. Alternatively, one could investigate partial functions in one of Isabelle's already well-developed object logics, e.g., ZF or HOL. In this paper we pursue the second approach and describe...

A novel bi-objective reliable location routing model considering impedance function under demand-side and supply-side uncertainty (A Case study)

Reliable location routing problem considers a location problem and a vehicle routing problem in order to select the optimal location of facilities and at the same time the optimal routes for vehicles considering the unexpected failure for facilities in which, all facilities may fail with a probability. In this paper, a bi-objective mathematical model has been developed to minimize the total cos...

GCD - A Case Study on Lucas-Interpretation

Lucas-Interpretation [5] combines computation and deduction such that a learner has free choice in interaction while solving problems in applied mathematics: a next step can be requested from the system and/or can be input with feedback from the system. Thus interactive support in stepwise problem solving comes close to traditional paper and pencil work. Next steps are computed by a program, wh...

A TS Fuzzy Model Derived from a Typical Multi-Layer Perceptron

In this paper, we introduce a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model which is derived from a typical Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP NN). At first, it is shown that the considered MLP NN can be interpreted as a variety of TS fuzzy model. It is discussed that the utilized Membership Function (MF) in such TS fuzzy model, despite its flexible structure, has some major restrictions. After modify...
